I recently purchased my dream car - 1994 LT1 Convertible, 31,000miles and I am considering Edelbrock IAS shocks. I would have preferred the OEM FX3 system but my car came with the stock Bilstiens. I have called some of the Corvette after market dealers and they say that they sell a lot and there are no returns. I would like to hear from someone who can give me a better description of their performance. That is, under normal conditions, are they as firm as the Bilstiens? Can I retro an FX3 system?
Edelbrock IAS are good shocks, ride is not as firm and handling not quite as crisp as the Bilsteins would be. To my knowledge, Bilstein is the only one that makes an FX3 shock, but i could be wrong.
My dad has a set on his 97 GMC (Vortec 350 + Whipple Supercharger, Mesa Headers, dual Flowmasters) Huge improvement over the stockers, of course they should be on a truck! Anyway, I have Bilsteins on my GN, similar ride considering the vast difference in vehicles. We bought them about the same time and compared them side by side prior to installing, both are well made, similar grade materials etc. I think the IAS are a bit more $$$ than Bilsteins. You can get Bilsteins at autozone, around $60 if I remember correctly, they order them but usually get them overnight.
