Default Another no crank problem

Helping a friend with 1986 with 4+3 trans.
1. Won't crank but can be push started. This would indicate fuel & spark is ok.
2. Clutch switch has been replaced.
3. Have dash and under dash wiring exposed.
4. Have been reading up on VATS system and have downloaded diagrams.
5. My next step is to read restance at key and underneath where the connector is going to the VATS system.
Any insight or suggestions will be appreciated.
Going to start on this Monday.
