Has anyone found a solution for this? When I hit 100+ mph it’s like a hurricane inside my car with the windows down (@150 it’s a category 5) If I don’t have my helmet on and visor down I can’t even see so much dust and crap blowing. Most track days require windows down and in the south it’s an oven if I leave them up.
is this just a “this is just how it is.” Kind of thing or is it maybe because my bucket behind my passenger has a hole cut for my electric cutouts to clear?
The factory offered wind deflectors that filled the space between the mirror and the window. Several vendors offer them for less than $40 a pair. Do a search of the C4 General discussion forum for outside mirror wind deflectors. You will find several threads.
Give somewhere for the air to go and you'll solve it, otherwise no.
Hatch vent would help, but I wouldn't competitively race with that on the hatch. Likely would end up shattering the glass.
Absolutely. You can really tell the difference with our hatch vent driving, however I agree, that could break the glass.
However if you made a vented riser that simulates the window being sealed, but lifts it up 2 or 3 inches, but still supports it, that would really let the air out.
OR one of these with no glass/plexiglass so it simply lets the air out
I roll with the windows down most of the time and I hit 150 on the regular. It isn't all that big of a deal. With the hatch vent it is worse though. So, if your cubby is open to the air, that is probably your problem.
I've used a Vent Master for years with zero issues. No turbulence in the cabin. In fact, I rarely remove it. I don't daily drive the car at all and have it in for quite some time now. I did remove the light bulbs right behind the driver and passenger on the pillar because they will stay on otherwise (you can see in this stock photo that those lights are on)
Have a hatch vent on mine. I never take it off and when I drive the car I am aggressive. The wind through the car is great (no top on it, windows down.) Been up to 120 so far and no wind issues. Just my .02
I use the vent, it improves the lift and airflow separation over the steeper angle glass. Issue is that the struts try to force open the glass, the wind tries to lift up on the glass, and the center latch pulls down (wether or not you have the vent latch installed actually)
Can you run without the 40lb glass hatch?
Also, you can try some of the larger flapper vents installed on most modern cars, put them in the back on the vertical surface around the hatch latch location. Without carpet over this area of course.
I'm not discounting the possibilities of using the hatch step latch, but I wonder if you put cut pool noodles in a few spots to take the shake out of the Glass if there is.
