my 1992 had passenger front tire being reinstalled after flat repair causing me to grab rotor by hand to turn (align wheel studs). Just seemed a little tight. car drives with no pull to either side so assume driver front has same level. I expect some drag from pads lightly touching rotors but how do you tell how much is too much?
Hard to describe in a post. But, when my front wheels are off I don't feel any drag whatsoever spinning the rotor. If this is really a concern about how much is too much it would only take me 10 minutes to pull a front tire and take a video of me spinning it. Dan
prev owner did work on brakes but did not remember when. My last C4 was a bear to bleed brakes. That is why I asked about normal drag rather than going for caliper rebuild.

C4 brakes are of a unique low drag design. The pads (both inner and outer) are retained by the caliper pistons and the caliper bridge by the dual circumferential springs. As brake pressure is released, the (previously) deformed seals pull the pistons back into the caliper along with the inner pad (roll-back). The caliper bridge should be free to float outward pulling the outer pad with it resulting in relatively low drag.
Most brakes allow the pads, pistons, and calipers to simply free float upon pressure release. The C4 brakes are intended to positively retract the pads along with the pistons and caliper bridge and should result in reduced drag and a minor improvement in fuel economy.

Did your "like" of my post mean you did want a video? Dan
If you have an IR temp gun go for a drive and compare the temp of each wheel. If the RF is noticeably hotter than the others then explore further. IIRC most readings will be <200F even after a few hard stops.
