Bought a 96 C4 LT1 last month and it is currently not running. When I bought the car i foud this forum and there's seems to be a lot of good advice on here so I wanted to ask everyone what my issue could be and how I can fix it. The car doesn't crank at this moment. I had my friend get under the car and jumper the starter and then I would turn the key over and it still wouldn't start. The starter was working when he jumped it so that shouldn't be the issue. We then did the same thing except this time I stepped on the gas, and the car would start, but as soon as I take my foot off the gas the car stops. Could this be an issue with a relay, or a fuel issue? We also just tried jumping the battery and that didn't work either (we didn't think it would). Any advice would be much appreciated!
Sounds like you have multiple issues going on. Could be a Vats issue. If it doesn’t read the resistance correctly on your key, it doesn’t enable the starter. You can try cleaning the key resistor with an eraser. There’s a Vats bypass you can install. You need to check for any codes set in the PCM ( engine computer). When you turn the key to the run position (not starting it) do you hear the fuel pump prime for 2 seconds? If not you have a fuel pump that’s not turning on. If you hear the pump priming then you need to check the fuel pressure with a gauge on see what is going on. You can google fixes for these problems.

After I posted that, that's exactly what i dug into. I figured out that the last time I tried turning it on I used the spare the car came with, which doesn't have that resistor pellet on it (so i don't know what it's even good for then). I cleaned my key and stuck a Q-tip in the ignition and it started up! I posted a new thread now cause now I have oil leaking and can't tell if the head is blown or it's just the gasket. Thanks for the advice
