Default Headlight Issue 1988 coup

Greetings all....

1988 vette coup....I have an intermittent issue with my headlights.....IF they are down and I pull the dash **** to turn lights on, sometimes they pop-up and sometimes they don't....Seems the same when switching them off....I can hear the motors click and possibly turning on-off....

I am sure headlight module is ok.....I can turn **** on motor to raise and lower the assembly w/out issue.....***Manually raising/lowering via the motor ****, that is no problem but, let's say that I manually raise or lower the headlight part-way, I can take the headlight assembly and significantly "move" it up and down (raise a bit and lower a bit) as if there was slack in it's travel....

QUESTION:
Should the headlight assembly be "rigid" all the way through it's travel and immovable if I stop it part-way?....IF the 3 "bearings" are worn, etc, would that be a significant contributor to my symptoms?

I have the "bearings" here but, have not gotten 'round to replacing them..(PS: the motors work)...I think that maybe the gear "moved" or a worn bearing is mis-aligning the "innards" (Beverly Hillbillies - ha!)....

Opinions please?...........THANKS.

Just take them out and open up the gear housing. Easier than guessing. You will have to do that to fix them anyway.

Well, to be honest with you, I already figured that...Was looking to see (in effect) if anyone else had similar issue.
