Well my 92 was feeling like it had the opti blues so i bought a new cap and rotor for my MSD opti. After opening it up it had lots of oil in it from a failing seal so I decided to take it all apart and clean the internals. I was having trouble getting the opti disk off I tried to pull the whole bottom plate up and it put a nice dingy in the opti wheel ,F%&k . If you look at the pic there is a small indention in the wheel right by the dent. Is that normal to connect it to the bottom plate or just a abnormal bad luck for me? Any suggestions how to get this apart without doing more damage?? Hopefully I can save it and flatten it out again or do any of you guys know where I can get a replacement. Hate to waste $720 worth of MSD because of this plate. Also has anyone ever transplanted MSD parts to a cheapee Amazon opti?? the base plate looks the same so as an alternative I could put my MSD opti sensor and cap & rotor in the $60 cheapee?? What do you guys think anyone ener tried this surgery. Heres a pic of my F'up and the Amazon one , looks the same in the pic to me ... Thanks guys.

I don't think any opti replacement has any magic in the optical wheel: I think they're all the same. You could get a super cheap one and steal the wheel out of it, or get one from a junkyard-used opti. Either way, since the bearing in your MSD is hopefully better than the one in a cheap replacement (but who knows?), I'd try to repair the MSD instead of swap parts from it into a cheap replacement.
I am not positive and have never done it but do a search for opti rebuild. I think that slotted disc is hard to get off properly and must be put on exactly as it was. Again, not sure. Dan
It's fairly easy and straight forward to take apart an optispark. Not sure how it was bent like that but anything can happen. It's literally held all together by a few screws. But yes that disc is toast. Look for a cheap brand new unit and take its disc.
