Default The Quest for 1984 Idle

Earlier this year I took ownership of my dad's poor condition corvette. This is my first project car, and I've put in many afternoons already. I have the Shop Manual, and I've been working to get my '84 corvette to idle. I started by getting the IACs working, and a week ago I finally got the corvette to spit out some error codes. It was code 34. I followed the instructions in the service manual ( page 6e2-43) and skipped my MAP sensor to get new codes. It gave another 34 along with a 22. I used a voltmeter to check the reference signal and there was zero voltage from the ECU. The Shop Manual told me to check circuit 416 for open and ground.
This is where I get to my two questions. I'm super new to working on electronics.
Checking Open: I checked for open by using the volt meter and alligator clips to go from the ECM harness connector to the mac sensor connector, and it beeped telling me it had continuity. Does that confirm there is no open?
Checking Ground: I checked for ground with the volt meter using one lead in the maps sensor harness and the other on the negative terminal of the battery. There was no continuity. Does that confirm the circuit is not grounding out?
If I did this right, the manual says my ECM is dying and needs to be replaced, so I would love your experienced insights!
