Hey y'all. So I'm looking to build some more power on my '93 Corvette, getting tired of being gapped by 5.0's around here lol. As of now my car sits with a set of stainless works longtube headers, magnaflow catback with a 3.73 rear end and an open airbox (also a 6spd manual), I'm looking to throw a cam and a set of heads in and ideally make 400-420 hp at the crank. As of now I'm looking at either going with either the stage 1 or stage 2 cam kit from Tick Performance, first off does anyone have any experience with the cams from these guys and what kind of gains are to be made? I was originally thinking on going with an LT4 Hotcam or a CC503 as this helpful write-up from the fellas over at LS1Tech suggests, but this seems to be a little more aggressive and will get me some more power and It'd be nice if I can buy everything i need all at once from the same place. Secondly what would be a good set of heads to pair with one of these cams? I'm having a hard time finding a good write-up on how to pick a good set of heads so pointers are much appreciated. Finally is this set of mods realistic to make around 400 horse?
The 503/LT1 combo is pretty common. While not an LT1 I did 360 tire through a 4 speed on a Mustang dyno with a very similar grind... lot of guys run it cam only, if you search around there are a lot of combos out there on that and then LE heads or afrs etc. They cam only guys seem to end up in the 340 range at the tire on the six speeds... so yes... pretty easily obtainable and proven.
