I have a 96 without tire pressure sensors. I wish someone would make a very simple aftermarket system. I don't need to see the pressure in each tire. I don't need to know which tire is low. I can figure that out in 3 minutes. All I want is four air chuck caps with sensors. Inside the car all I want is a black 1" x 1" square box with a big battery and one red light in the center. If any of the four tires goes below say 28PSI the red light blinks. Does anyone know of a simple system like this? Thanks, Dan

Thank you. I don't have a cigarette lighter anymore. I use that spot for the USB slots for my aftermarket radio. I don't want all that info. Just a small black box with one red light. Thank you for your response, Dan
I know what you're looking for, you want a simple pass/fail valve stem with a light that would scream out, like you didn't find it.
This is the closest I found.

I have those on my motorcycle so I can see if a tire is low BEFORE I take a ride. I want something in the vette that can tell me while I am driving that I have a problem. Thank You, Dan
Well, I learned something today. They now have systems where you put the sensor on each tire valve and they connect by bluetooth to your smartphone. Your phone will sound an alarm with low pressure. They are not that expensive. I always have my phone so I think I will try it. Dan

I hadn't seen any 'responsible' retailers but I have seen them. I believe the first I had seen were Australian marketed and they had notes to check the software apps before a purchase.
I use something similar to this on my travel trailer. The one I have is a couple years old and no longer sold, this appears to be an updated version of it. It's similar to the one you posted from Walmart but has a dedicated receiver that you just set up on your dash.
Listing on Amazon
The receiver is solar powered so you never have to worry about charging it or changing batteries. Mine came with a sticky rubber pad that you put on the dash and then set the receiver on that to keep it from sliding around.
One thing to be cautious of with this type, and I presume that would include the bluetooth one from Walmart, is that as small as the sending units are they still exert significant centrifugal force on a rubber valve stem when the wheel is rotating at speed. When I first put mine on the trailer I had rubber valve stems and after a 150 mile highway trip I could see marks on the rims where the stem was being bent over far enough to let the sending unit come into contact with the rim. These were standard size rubber stems, not anything extended in length. I was frankly shocked to see the marks, thinking a short stem wouldn't bend over that much but it most certainly did. Over time I could see the rubber stem degrading to the point of causing it to leak or even blow out. I switched out to metal valve stems in order to alleviate the issue.

Interesting observation - premium metal valve stems would certainly be something to consider for sure
Hey guys, i have had the threaded on type on my track car and 100% you need to have an aluminum valve stem and also you want to balance the wheel with the sensor on.
batteries lasted me 2 years. On my c4's i install an extra 12v socket where the factory CB option was mounted inside the cntr console. So I had no issues plugging in the small "usb charger" sized display. edit: what i neant was i put the usual usb charger in the console. and then i put the tpms in the factory lication where u can hear it and see it albeit peripherally. It beeps and flashes when the pressure goes below whatever threshold you set. Sounds like Dan you don't have the 12v socket. I think you can get yourself an option that will work well enough but you may be wiring it to power.
Cheers and let us know what you go with. If you have a cradle for your phone visible within peripheal vision then the bluetoothed connection may work. Personally, i wouldn't want that as its now dependent on more than one component system. would rather then permanent mount style posted above or a cig lighter style. Cheers and Merry Christmas.

If you REALLY wanted it, you could always add the factory components to your car.
Thanks but I am in the market for a simpler solution. I might be back to square one with this new info on the valve stems that I never anticipated. Maybe just check them like I always have. Dan

If it were tire time the move to premium 3 piece valve stems wouldn't be a nuisance.

That is funny. That is exactly what I was thinking. You use the word "premium" so even without the sensors do you think the metal stems are better? Dan
