ok i looked through the archives and wasn't sure on a part number. anyone know what the part number for the temp sensor on a "90 is. it's located under the distributor area. there are two sensors there. the oil pressure and the temp. had the temp gauge leak like crazy, spewing oil everywhere making a mess. i didn't have a part number so i just installed an oil pressure sensor in it's place. i went to pepboys and autozone and no one could tell me what the part number was, they looked at me like i had 9 heads. i tried using the numbers on the sensor at gmparts.com but no luck. can anyone help?
call your dealer, ask for parts, they will get the number in minutes. they have diagrams of exactly where it is and the part number. just get it from a local dealer. mine was under $30 if i remember right, basically your down the street dealer will sell for similar to online.
Is it different on the later L98's. My 86 has an oil pressure switch for the fuel pump and oil pressure sender by the distributor. The oil temp is down just above the oil filter. Have replaced the pressure sender.
i could be backwards, i know the switch is by the distributor, the temp could be by the filter and pressure by the switch. can't remember, just know i ordered all 3 with the new engine and put them in the respective holes.
{correction} it was the oil pressure switch. :banghead: guess we have two diffrent types? who knew. thanks guys for clearing up all the confusion. :auto:
