I recently purchased everything I need to start emulating my ecm. The main issue i’m having is finding a place to mount the emulator inside my engine bay that keeps it secured and safe. I was also wondering how I should run the usb cable from my engine bay into the car. Any help is appreciated.
There are a couple solid spots in the firewall.
I like the one near your left toes, near the battery area. You gotta remove the battery to get a clear shot at it.

IMHO emulating is useless. The only usefulness is dialing in your idle as you sit there idling. I suppose on a dyno with steady rpm and load, you could possibly isolate the rich/lean cell, crunch the math, navigate to the cell that needs tweaked, flash the change and see if the changes have the desired impact. Rinse repeat for each cell...
Shortly after posting this same response on another forum...I'll stand corrected, the whole intent is not to make on the fly changes but to facilitate making changes without having to shutoff engine and burn a new chip.

Is that emulator designed to handle the rigors of an engine bay?
The website doesn’t state if it is. but the emulator is connected to the ecm via a short ribbon cable so I’m not sure I have an option other than finding a way to move my ecm.
Just to note, emulators are not meant to be installed permanently
they are made to be used to for on the fly tuning, datalogging and making your final adjustments without having to burn, datalog, burn, datalog, over and over
then make a final tune on a chip for permanent install in stock form when you are done
From the Cobra website (re; RTP universal emulator):
Uploading 2 different firmwares and switch without a PC (Dualmap)
Storing the firmware in a de-energized state - it can be installed permanently instead of a standard flash memory chip.
Can be installed in an ECU case - the device is smaller than a credit card
This seems to imply you can carry two tunes and switch on the fly. Very handy driving on highways (mileage) to The Dragon (sport). If I'm understanding this correctly.
