Harmonic balancer hub removal
If you do not loosen the crank bolt, the hub will not go anywhere.
[addition]
I wanted to add that the crank bolt must remain (although mostly loosened) otherwise there will be nothing for the puller to push against. Just wanted to make sure that was clear.
Also, you might want to consider getting another bolt which is slightly longer than the crank bolt because when I was pulling mine, I ended up ruining the first few threads of the crank because I did not have enough threads engaged for the amount of force I was transferring.
Also, becareful how much torque you apply to pull it because you will you can pull the threads out of the hub. Trust me, I did it.
What I would recommend doing is getting some more bolts for the hub puller that fit inside the bolt holes of the hub (do not engage the threads) and then put nuts and washers on the bolt and pull on the back side of the hub. This way you don't risk ruining the hub. They are $40 from GM, I believe.
Good luck!
Mike
