After years of reading the forum and finding useful info it's my turn to ask what may be a silly question. Today my C4 '93 Corvette (after being in the garage for a 7-8 months due to me travelling) started puffing white smoke from the exhaust after I stopped at the gas station (not sure if this is relevant). Luckily I was around the corner from my house and was able to drive it into the garage quickly. I since started it once more and I still had white smoke coming out of it with a smell of fuel. I should mention the car starts well.
Afraid this might have to do with the head gasket, is there any safe tests I can do myself before bringing it to the shop? IE Any chance it's just condensation/car that hasn't run in a few months?
As mentioned look for the Milky oil, next check the oil level hi or low and give it a sniff if it smells of gas carefully remove the vacuum hose off of fuel pressure regulator with engine running, in a purfct work that should be just a vacuum leak. If gas comes out of regulator it's bad.
Also keep an eye on the coolent, also check intake manifold for puddling of coolant
