Re: How much does cold weather make a difference (C4kid94)
on my '85, I went to the track in 95-100 degree weather. After about 12 runs that were consistently 14.2, I finally eeked out a 14.05 run at 98mph. I did a few more after that and they were 14.2 or 14.3.
A few months later, doing absolutely nothing to the car, I went back to the track in 45-50 degree weather. First run was a 13.95 at 100mph. My best that day was 13.73 and almost 101 mph.
Cooler weather made a big difference!
My '90 was at the track when it was about 80 degrees or so. 13.95 was the best I got, and that was in a bracket race with me hitting the brakes at the end. Didn't work, I still broke out! Anyway, I plan to go back in a couple weeks when the temps will be in the 40' or 50's and I hope to pull a 13.5x!!!

There is a formula that states every 10 degrees Fahrenheit that charge-air temperature is reduced, one horsepower effective will be gained. Thats why a lot people use cold air intakes. Ambient air temp also has the same effect even if you are not using a CAI.
Back in 1995..My friend had a '93 Cobra Mustang. Slicks, 3.73s Skinnies, Mass Air And Mufflers we're the only mods. He was a big guy..so He had me drive(I was 130 pounds back in '95..I'm 167 now) In scorching heat in July(approx 95 degrees, and i have the video) it did a 13.46@100.
We went back with ZERO changes to the car(except launch rpm) and it did a 13.0@103.1 (I have that video somewhere too) That run almost killed me! they had 6 pounds of air in the slicks :D Top end was scary to say the least.
