The stock LT1 is rated at 300. A few quick mods (Intake, exhaust, reprogrammed comp and gears) and you will gain a few, mostly in TSOP! You will think you are riding a rocket sled....
You still won't beat a Z06 or a Viper, but if you never race one, you'll feel like you can.. :jester :smash:
Assuming equally talented drivers, a stock LT4 won't beat a Z06. It is 65 HP weaker and a bit heavier. (LT4 340BHP, Z06 405BHP)
TSOP= The seat of the Pants...
According to the previous owner, my LT1 is making 309hp at the rear wheels. I haven't dynoed it myself so I don't know how accurate that is. I have the SLP Intake, Power Effects Exhaust and the 4.11 rear end gears. He said the computer was reprogrammed after the mods but I don't know for sure.
There is supposed to be a new dyno near me that I am going to have to try.
An LT1 makes 300hp, while the LT4 is rated at 330 it actually makes 350hp. GM underrated the LT4 so as not to **** off owners of the LS1 C5 that came out the following year (LS1-345hp) and the LT4 can beat the early LS1s with an adequate driver. It wont beat a Z06 unless you pour some money into it.
Modding consists of port work, gears, and cam change.
