Car doesn't start after change OptiSpark module..Help please!!!!
I had just installed a new OptiSpark module in my 92 LT1 along with new water pump and spark plug wires; now the car doesn't start at all, it tried to start but didn't. Is there a special way to line up the optispark and the camshaft? I lined it up with the marking on the little shaft and figure that should be TDC. Anyone had any other experience with this, please help.....

The opti's drive can only fit over the cam in one placement. If the opti went on and settled nice and easy right up against the front cover, then the opti is on correct. I would be checking all the electrical connections that needed to come ofdf in order to do the job to make sure you don't have a loose or broken wire/connector.

The opti's drive can only fit over the cam in one placement. If the opti went on and settled nice and easy right up against the front cover, then the opti is on correct. I would be checking all the electrical connections that needed to come ofdf in order to do the job to make sure you don't have a loose or broken wire/connector.

It is very possible to get the opti on wrong, I have done it before. As these guys said, if it went on and all the mounting brackets were flush up against the front cover then it went on right. If there was a little gap between that went away when you tightened the bolts then it is on wrong. I know, it really sucks taking all that crap off to get to the opti again :( Be sure to run through all your electrical connections first. Good luck.

Well, since you've tried to start it, has it stored any codes? As said before, check for spark at any of the plugs. If you don't have anything there, check your coil to opti wire. Check the connections from the ECM to the opti. Someone else here had the same problem and it turned out to be a connector had gone bad and wasn't making connection. He had a code that helped narrow it down a little.

I know this is hind sight but they will start without the water pump and pulley in place quite a few lights and warnings but no teardown if no start condition occurs. Good luck!
