Default Any idea what would cause a k&n filter to do this?

Airbox isnt pretty, but thats a testament to just how crappy the aftermarket is at supporting modifications on our c4

So I was surprised to see the cotton filter getting sucked out of the mesh at the top.

this filter bolts to
the face of my d1-sc procharger, and the airbox has an elbow at the bottom that collects cool air from a scoop by the air dam on the car.

i did notice that a piece of the heat wrap had stuck to the top of the filter - adjacent to where the cotton gauze got sucked out

15 psi boost. Any ideas ?

I have two thoughts,1 your moving a lot of air and the surface area seem less than factory, 2 I have seen cleaner filters on Construction equipment when was that last serviced.

Whatever you do, ensure you have appropriate filtration. I have seen many oil analysis where dirt ingestion caused excessive wear. I also had the misfortune of running a car for long periods without filtration because the filter detached from my homemade bellows.
the damage is already done, but hopefully not fatal.

I would change the oil ASAP

By the way, that filter be seeing very hi temps, causing the gauze to break down.

I take it that's the side next to the headers. I made a heat shield-helps!
