Default Which replacement antenna for 85?

The commonly available replacement is a generic with a head that looks like it will stick up out of the fender. A friend ordered one for his 86 and it was GM, but generic. He then went to the dealership and they had the same thing. The catalogs I look at have the same thing. There is a Hirshman available on ebay for about $40 (it is a generic also). If I have to go generic, is this a decent unit. There is a NOS correct one on ebay for $180. This is awfully pricey. I cant be the only one with this problem.
I was going to remove mine and open it up to see if I could fix it, but after realizing how it comes out, I'm going to put in a new one instead.

I bought the repair kit from Eckler's or MidAmerica and fixed the antenna in my '85. The kit was pretty cheap and it is a straight forward job. You have to take off the wheel and undo the wheel well with a torx wrench. The power plug is under the panel right where the rear hatch latches. I replaced the rivit holding the antenna together with a bolt. It works great now.
