Default Caliper Rebuild Kits

Team,

I would like to rebuild both, front and rear calipers on my 96 CE. It comes with the J55 brakes (if that even makes a difference).

Any recommendations on brand, and any special tools needed?

Thank you!
Ric

i went to Napa and bought some ac delco front caliper rebuild kit.

they include front caliper dust boots, inner piston seals, and the bleeder caps

ac delco, made in china

The boot seal install is the hard part.

be sure to have the boot hanging off the end of a piston, before finagling the other side into the lip on the piston bore.

if you try to go the simple route of putting the seal into the bore first and trying to push a piston thru it (with a c clamp), you will rip off the lip of the seal that contacts the piston

one of my pistons was sticking causing uneven brake wear which is why i decided to rebuild

not sure of this fixed it

good luck

Make sure to use brake caliper assembly fluid to lubricate the seals with. They say it works better than brake fluid.

What part number were you sold? Did you ask for ACD or that's what they provided you? If I had to do these they might have been a first call but I don't believe that ACD would have been their first offering. I believe that maybe Baer used also PBR, I might look there and maybe ask 'Country of Origin'.
