Okay, so this isn't a Corvette question, but I'm not a member of any Suburban forums, and it should be the same.
A couple of weeks ago, my father and I took the 700R4 out of his 87 Suburban, replaced the cluches, seals, 2-4 band and put in a shift kit. We got it back in, and there is no reverse. Anybody know what the first thing to check would be? We rebuilt it because it had no drive or OD, but now that works fine, just no reverse. It just acts like it's in neutral. Thanks a lot.
When I installed my shift kit, I forgot to tighten the bolts on the square plate towards the rear of the valve body. This let the pressure out when in reverse.
When I put my shift kit in I didn't have reverse either. I didn't seat the TV valve snap ring properly into the pump. This is a common mistake as it is difficult to do.
Thanks a lot guys. I just wanted to get a few ideas of what to check first rather than looking over everything. Anybody else know of something that would cause this?

This is the exact same thing that happened to me last month when I had mine rebuilt.
