Default Question about Power Effects Tune ****

Today was the first time I tried the tuning **** on my Power Effects exhaust.

The difference between 1 and 5 is.... well... almost nothing, sound wise and barely distinguishable performance-wise.

So why bother?

Am I doing something wrong? This seup is a couple of years old so maybe it is worn out inside or something...

When my L98 was near stock, it was worth 2 tenths in the quarter mile between open and closed. This is pretty decent considering the L98 doesn't breath above 5000 RPM. I have not tested test the settings now that the engine moves more air.

although negligable, there is a sound difference after the system has some wear.
The cannister is filled with a stainless steel type "wool", much like an old glass pack and will wear out after time.

In the closed position, you increase backpressure...in the open position, you have a freeflowing muffler.

The open position, with less (if any) back pressure should yeild a nominal hp increase.

Power Effects had a quality problem with rattles in the closed to almost closed position. If your not the original owner, maybe they gutted the modules to eliminate the rattle. Power Effects would fix it but you had to send it to them.
Open is worth 8hp-12TQE. On a stock car you might not notice much of a difference.

I had one for two years, and felt that the difference in noise between the two extremes was minimal. On the strip, on a modified motor, the differecne was about 0.2 seconds (mid-12's).

I later sold it, because IMO it was too noisy at either setting.
