I posted this in General area which got me no replies, hopefully tech will be better area to post this in…
I’ve been told the Snap On MT2500 is a good scanner however I seem to find them bare or all the stuff for every vehicle out there. I only plan on using it for my 89 Corvette to read data so I can evaluate how sensors are functioning & hopefully dial in all the basics before going on to performance changes, etc. I need to stop throwing parts at it & hoping I stumble upon the fixes.
So is this a good OBD1 scanner for a novice use? While they are available on eBay, how do I assure I’m buying a good unit & what additional pieces do I need/want if buying this unit?
Thanks Guys!
I have an Auto XRay that has been in my shop for 10+ years. It has OBD1 & 2 as well as data capture (limited by todays standard). But I have also bought a USB to ODB cable and use Tuner Pro RT software. Software is free and cable was in the $60 range. A Tech 2 is nice but there are not a lot out there anymore and the good ones that are command a price. But anything you get will be way more helpful than counting flashes on the Check Engine light.
Is there some reason that you want an old school stand alone scanner versus using a laptop and/or android device with an appropriate cable and software?
