Default 375HP on a Stock C4

Will my 84 handle the power, its an auto and I think I would make 375HP at least at the min, with my setup. I'm just not ready to change the drivetrain just yet, but I want some fun with my car, its only 205HP but its okay BUT its kinda getting boring. :bb

But your making 450+HP I'm only shooting for 375HP at the Fly, are you saying the tranny wont even last to that point?

They say a D36 will take up to 400 hp at the fly. That's with street tires of course ;)

I cant get any traction right now, I wonder hoe it would be like when I double the power.

atotalnincompoop, when exactly do you loose traction? When you start off, or when you are rolling say 25mph and you open the throttle all the way? or is it when the transmission shifts gears?

It would seem to me that it would make more sense if the put a Dana 44 in the autos than the Sticks. Auto's almost double TQ before they lock up so why would they put in a weaker Rear end?

Are you guys saying that then 400HP will break my stock drivetrain?

The need for the stronger diff in the stick is due to the torque slap, or sudden application of torque when you side-step the clutch. Autos will not (at stock setups) put the same amount of power to wheels when the car is first starting off the line.

no im just saying that if your transmission is origional its bound to go. :yesnod: i already have gone 1 season with the 383 & have had no problems....however the last time i had the transmission rebuilt i had xtra clutches installed & put a transgo shift kit in with a 2800 stall converter......oh yeah i also put in a big transmission cooler. so far soo good!

A Vette Buddy of mine has had 3 Dana 36s(3.54 now has 3.73)...he is around 290hp at the wheels. Stock gears 3.07 you might be Ok... Some of you are just Lucky....it will be a chance you will have too take. But a Dana 44 will take care of the problem.

SO this means that if I do this 375HP upgrade I will have to baby it just at the starting point, after I start roling like at 10-15mph I could slam the gas right? Or I'm outta luck there to?

You got it right... Just make sure you do not put drags or stickier than street tires on your car and you should be fine... At least that's what I'm hopeing for.

None smog aluminum Heads, 200cc intake volume and new headers, take off the Cat and smog pump, change the intake for a higher flowing one, and then use two 2bbl TBI's with of course a new fuel pump. Oh yeah running 9.6 to 1 compression------Edelbrock did something like this but at 9.5 to 1 and a carb and got 420HP out of SB 350CID. SO I dont expect to make 420 so I will aim at 375HP at the Fly. :yesnod:
