I know of no one personally that's been successful or even attempted. It's certainly been mentioned before.
The mast-jacket is very different and the addition of SIR with '90+ would make a direct fit impossible. If a person didn't mind loosing SIR and had 1 of each 'side by side' you could investigate swapping the shrouds and the upper column components,

Yeah, thats. Pretty much what I was planning to do, some insight from those that have been there and done that would obviously help a lot. Good news is most gm Saginaw columns from 70-to the early 90's are very very similar in design, a lot of parts interchange between models.
Looks like I have to be the test guinea pig if I want it. It is interesting that the 84-89 cars telescopic columns do not tend to get loose pivot pins like the 90-96 cars do. At least you don't hear about problems as much for the early cars. Thank you for the response.
Yes I have a 87 column in my 1990z. I not longer have an airbag.
what specifics are you looking for?
Specifics,
1. wiring
2. Any mechanical differences that must be addressed
Obviously I will have the donor column and my cars column side by side on a bench, any and all insight, road blocks, specific additional parts I need prior to doing the swap, any.. "if I knew then what I know now I would have done that, or not done this etc. thanks man, really appreciate any insights you have on the swap.
