I have just removed the stock 24lbs injectors off my '85 vette.
They are pretty beat looking (104K miles), so I am thinkof of either sending them to cruzingreformance.com to have them cleaned for around $100.00 or should I buy a new set for around $250?
I was thinking of buying 28lbs injectors for my vortech setup I'm installing now, but the 24lbs injectors would be sufficient. Think it is worth cleaning? or should I just bite the bullet and get a new set?
For the time it takes to replace I would buy new. Jegs has a set of 8 any poundage for $229 - $249. Thats what I did, but be careful with the stock retaining clips cause these don't come with them, and I had trouble finding one clip to replace the one I broke. Then you know what you got.
Hmm yea, but at $230-250 that's 2.5x the price of having the existing 24lbs injectors cleaned and checked. I know the 24lb will be fine for my use, so stepping up to higher flowrate is not necessarily needed. Heck I know people with 22lbs injectors that have 430+- HP and are running great...
Go for the new one's Gabe. It makes sense. Boosted applications and higher hp applications require more fuel. If it we're easier, I'd yank my current injectors for 30's.
Good luck with whatever you choose. And glad to hear your car is progressing.
Lol you should see it. I tore it almost all down. Have the whole intake off right now. Trying to figure out how the HELL to remove my injectors from the rail... :mad
Just rotate the clip and pull them out. As far as the injectors, my engine is a 355 with a Vortech and I run 30's. You are not going to make any power with the SC if you are not adding fuel to the engine. I also did not use the FMU from Vortech. I ran fuel lines into each rail and a return from each rail and then to a Aeromotive regulator that works with boost at a 1:1 ref.
