Vin derivative. It is the last 8 digits of the VIN that it was mated with.

I’m trying to figure out what the number 2 stamp is. Do you know what it means?

In the partial VIN, the leading digit is not the check digit. It denotes the Division. In this case 1 = Chevrolet.
I ran the complete Vin as both a coupe (1G1YY238*M5104026) and convertible (1G1YY338*M5104026). The Coupe check digit is 7. The Convertible check digit is X.
My 92 is the same deal. Partial VIN leading digit is a 1. The check digit in the long VIN is a 2.
Just guessing at what the "2" is: Something to do with the specific core box used to mold the sand core. Probably wrong.
