I finally got the car re-wired today. It's been over a year. It started!!! :D BUT It won't idle at all. I used starting fluid, and that would help, but it's like as soon as I put my foot on the gas pedal the car dies. It had a 1/4 tank of old gas in it. I added stabalizer, and a gallon new gallan of premium as well. I can hear the fuel pump kicking in also. Any ideas?? It's not setting any codes either.
A wile back my battery went down. after puttin a new one in, my car did the same thing yours is doing. finally after about 10 trys it started doing fine.
I don't know if the fuel had been sittin and gumed somethin up, or if the computer had to re learn everything or what. (battery had been out for a week) computer lost memory. still don't know what happened, it would not stay running. and took lots of cranking to start. maybe some one else can help.
good luck...
glad to see its (allmost) back on the road.
Can't help you with your problem. Congrad. on all that work. I just put my engine back together a few months ago and still working on some minnor bugs.
Have you checked pressure at the fuel lines? With the damage there, maybe a ground wire isn't up to suff anymore and the pump isn't pumping hard enough.

I haven't checked the pressure. I need to get a pressure gauge. All the wiring is new, so I wouldn't think it was a bad ground... although i guess it is possible. I'll re-check the grounds.
I had the same problem when I tried to start my engine after a lengthy downtime period. I had good FP and no codes were set. My problem was that some of the injectors were sticking. I sent then to Rich @ Cruisin' Performance back in July but we didn't start the engine until November. Rich says the parrifin based oil had dried up inside the injector and caused the sticking. I had them cleaned again and they all fired up fine after that. This may not be your problem but since the story is so close to what happened to me, I thought I'd throw this in here as something to check into.

Ok John, I'm going to clean the injectors today, and see if that works. Thanks for the tip!!
