So my 1993 corvette with a 6spd manual with a 373 rear end, has formed a very audible click or clunk on takeoff, acceleration or deceleration. Initially I chocked it up to u-joints but I got the car in the air today and the u-joints on both the driveshaft and the half shafts didnt have a ton of play, so i'm thinking it isnt a ujoint. I noticed that the drivers side rear wheel feels like it has a bit more play than the other rear wheel when rolling it in the air. Am i looking at a new ring and pinion here or is it something a little simpler than that?
Before Condeming the diff, have look around the rear a bit closer.
If I was in your situation I'd do rear wheel bearings even if they seem OK at first, they're basically a wear item so no harm in having a fresh set.
Same drill on the diff. Drain the oil and look for sparkles / chunks. Drag a magnet near the oil, if it moves, you'll know. If the oil is clean then you did routine mantenance.
I would check your c-beam bolts at the rear end and transmission. My 93 did had clunks like yours and this was it. I don’t remember the torque specs on it but you can look it up.
