Sounds good, my e-mail is tdanley@hotmail.com,
I recently moved to Jersey fr. VA(car is hibernating in garage)& would appreciate any advice!!
thanks, Terry :auto:
...with jack stands & no heat, I'll have to pass :skep:
I did it with jackstands in a no heat garage last winter. What else is there to do when the golf course is closed? BTW, those mechanix gloves are the bomb for cold weather wrenching.
Could someone possibly make a how-to remove the diff and swap the gears? I would like to do it myself, but I would like some sort of guide on how to do it. Thanks :D

I don't know your level of mechanical ability, but gear changes are not for novice wrench turners.
Well, I have some mechanical ability, but I wouldn't trust myself setting backlash and that stuff. Otherwise, I should be able to pull the diff, if I had some sort of guide on what I have to remove. Once I get the diff out, I know a guy that can do the actual gear swap for about $100 and all he does all day long is transmissions and drivelines, so I think I can trust him to set the gear right.

I was like you, didn't trust myself to do the actual gear swap, so I paid a local expert $200.
To drop the diff I used the Field Service Manual and the Haynes $12.95 special together as references. The FSM has everything by the book (like using an expensive spring compressor) the Haynes manual shows all the old fashion short cuts (like using a jack to release the spring). This is a good time to upgrade the rear bushings to poly :)
