Can you physically see the difference in the hoses or anything to determine if your car is a 12r or 134a
look at the high/low pressure fittings - R12 fittings look like a schrader valve tire stem, with threads on the outside. R134a fittings are slightly larger and look like an air hose quick disconnect' fitting. if your corvette's been converted from R12 to R134a, you will have adapters on both.

ok, I’ll take a look at it now…it’s a 1991

Stay away from those drop ins, many are just 134A with some added crap.
converted my 85 to r134a about 8 years ago, BY THE BOOK. no regrets and still cold today. t topped off the system once, but other than that, no issues.
1991 is going to be an R12 car. Find the leak, recharge with R12, get on with life or PROPERLY convert it to 134A.

Agree with you totally except for the part I highlighted. MOST do not have a lick of R134A or R12. The vast majority of these "snakeoils" are hydrocarbon based. The majority will have R134A in big letters and then below in micro lettering it will have words such as "replacement" or "substitute".
I never looked close at others, but I remember Freeze 12 was 134 and LP best I recall. Either way, with you. I would never use and impossible to service anywhere.
