My stock 88 L98 TB tends to stick a bit at idle, it will idle around 1200 and if you blip the throttle it will come down to 800. I can replicate the issue with the hood up and if I push the throttle butterfly by hand it will come back down too. Is there any decent replacements or rebuilt ones out there or is this something that just needs to be taken apart and lubed ?
I would get the gasket set and some throttle body cleaner. I would replace the IAC and make sure you're comfortable with re setting the IAC and setting the TPS voltage.

I actually did all that and replaced the IAC and TPS. Do you know if there is a rebuild kit or can I just tear it down and clean and lube it ?
EDIT: do you mean get the 4 piece gasket set and just tear it down, clean it and lube it ? I’m thinking there has to be some bushings that are worn and causing the issue ?
It may be the accelerator cable hanging up a bit, unhook if from the throttle body and see if lever on the throttle body returns to the stop.
I checked both the accelerator and cruise control cables and they’re okay. I can feel just the slightest resistance on the throttle lever when I push it just a tiny bit back to the idle stop. I’ve removed the TB and cleaned it really well, but wasn’t sure if I should or could use some spray lube on the throttle shaft ?
I replaced my throttle body when the bushings went bad. You used to be able to get them rebuilt, but I haven’t heard of anyone doing that for sometime.
