I went to go down shift from 3rd to 2nd and there was no 1st or 2ng gear at all, I still have 3rd, 4th, and reverse. Both 1st and 2nd are free gear with no catch what so ever, it is a 1985 with the DN 4+3. I am just at a lost, any advice is welcome and appreciated.

Sounds like your 1 & 2 shift fork is not moving. Check all your shift linkages.
I agree with arbee either your linkages fell apart or something broke inside the side cover.
I have seen many times where the shafts snap or the fork would loose a wing, don't let this scare you the repair isn't that hard to do can be done on back with no special tools. The hard part is finding the part.
So roll up your sleeves and find out if a linkage has come loose inside or outside, if they are still good grab the shift arms 1 at a time move them you should feel a positive click if you don't odds are you broke something inside transmission (Again NOT A BIG DEAL)
Could be something as simple as the nut coming off the shift arm.
Or even as simple as a retainer shift rod to lever has failed either at the shifter or at the transmission. The T10 side cover, shift arms, forks etc are also pretty straight forward repairs if it's internal.
