Default Quick exhaust question.

Hey guys;
I've been going over the forum for the past few days, trying to deduce an exhaust solution on the cheap, and i've stumbled across a couple people who ran an OEM LT1 rear Y-pipe and mufflers, paired with any set of long tube headers under the sun, and I just want to confirm if this a legitimate set up, or if im reading it wrong.

For context...
All im doing is diving into the Crossfire (this is an 84 vette) to replace head gaskets, valve stem seals, 1.6 rockers, exhaust gaskets and some sorely needed age-related repairs. I dont have much in ways of a budget atm, which lead me to seeing factory LT1 parts being an option. Paired with this, Im doing some basic, backyard mechanic mods while the heads are off (ported OEM intake, later model fuel pump, air pump delete, A/C delete (The R12 already leaked out anyway))

So with all that said, is it true that the factory rear Y-pipe off an LT1 vette will bolt in?

Will generic SBC "Block Hugger" headers work as well, or only long tubes with some front Y-pipe modification done?
