Possible intake gasket blown?
I have an ‘86 and I’ve been reading on intake gasket problems as I found a small amount of coolant around the back of the intake and around some bolts while doing fuel injectors, so I tightened the bolts and thought nothing of it.
I got the injectors all in and all is put together and I start it, there was a heavy knock, smoke out the exhaust, and coolant pouring out the exhaust tips.
Given the sign of a bad intake gasket, am I good to assume that it’s that and not head gaskets, as the intake gasket is also a common issue on these? My oil looks like it did when I changed it 1500 miles ago. Also, the more important question, as I didn’t run it long with the knock, could fixing the gasket (or gaskets) get rid of the coolant in the combustion chamber and thus getting rid of the knock? Thanks!
