1984 almost starts but doesnt

Default 1984 almost starts but doesnt

Hi so i got a c4 1984 and i changed the head gasket and shaved the heads of .005 and then reajust valves to specs, then put all back on and i tried to put the distributer back to where it was, and then i tried to start it, it feels like it almost want to starts but doesnt. I cant actually know whats the timming, i know its not 180 off because i already tried it, it did not start or make sounds at all, now i tried to put it back where it was with a picture i had, ql my spark plug are in the rigth place, it ran really good before removing heads, start easely, 2 - 3 and it would start. Please help

Twist the distributor a little if you're sure that its close.

I did, thats how the motor was getring better, but it just wont start, i mean even if its 10-15 degrees odf id still start, i feel like it migth be something else then timming at this point

Turn the engine over till the balancer points to the zero mark on the timing tab, then pop off the dist. cap, Is the rotor pointing at #1 or 180 off (that depends on which stroke #1 cylinder is at).

Yeah i was 2 slot off on my ignition coil, so i moved it 2 slots to clockwise to align it with my ingnition cap#1, had to start by putting it on tdc of compresion, when it was at peak, i removed the cap check when the ignion spinning thing was at and it was 2 slots off, it was fireing at 7 when it was supose to fire it 1, now it runs like a charm, timming was set at 8
