Default rearend oil

been using lucas 100-120 rearend oil but it seems to leak out the seals. Is this to thick of oil and cause a pressure build up in the rearend? If so what should I use to not have the pressure build up? Also thinking about drilling out the vent plug to larger size to relieve the pressure. Need to replace the seals again to keep them safe from leaks

Talking about my 1989 Chevrolet Corvette. I changed the differential Lube at 50,000 miles.
now I have 60,000 miles.
The owners Manual says to use GM part Number 1052271 with Limited-Slip additive GM part Number: 1052358
I used Lucas 80W-90 No Problems so far.

Do yourself a favor...quit using Lucas oil stuff. Stick to the tried and true name brands such as Mobil, Castrol, Pennzoil, or Valvoline. Wanna go fancy...try Redline or Amsoil. Use their "Oil Selectors" and you'll be ok. Of course, you can download the owners manual and it will tell you. I have Redline in mine and it comes with the additive already in it.

You should be running 75W-90 if I'm not mistaken. Why are you running such a thick oil?

Don't take this as an attack, but rather an attempt to keep you from running potentially harmful stuff in your car.

I failed to mention that the owners manual does say 4 fluid ounces of the limited slip lubricant additive / friction modifier and then top off the differential with the correct gear lubricant - . Manual says with special gear lubricant GM part number 1052271.

Just try to be helpful...

Rear axle limited slip lubricant additive GM part number 1052358.

using thicker oil for racing but think it too much for the open road run
just looking to see what people use going back to the lighter oil

I put the Lucas synthetic 75W90 in my diff last year. It says on the label that it has "Friction Modifiers" built in, and this is the limited slip additive. My limited slip has never worked so well! Locks up very nicely when going around corners.
I also put it into my 4&3 transmission in the 4 speed half. It hasn't shifted this smoothly since I got it!
