Tires for my '86
Howdy all! I'm new here to the forum! My tires on my '86 have become too bald and are unsafe now (sways on curves),,,but as you may know, I can't locate any 255/50VR16tires anywhere! I found some 255/50ZR16's, and wondered if these will work? They have a different speed rating, but does this matter? Otherwise, I'll have to get new rims, which has proven to be confusing in my searches. as I understand there is only a small handful of rims that will work properly with my model. Also, they are quite different from my 16X8.5's, more like 18X10...won't this lift my car 2" higher off the ground? Don't want that, like it's low look! Any suggestions or tips for me? I really appreciate it, thanks!!!

Many earlier C4 owners with the 16 x 8.5 rims are buying 245/50ZR16. Most manufacturers offer ultra high performance tires in summer as well as all season in this size. The diameter difference between the 245 and 255 is negligible.
