Default To Lower or Not to Lower….

So I finally have the correct Z51 front & rear spring for my 89 Corvette but it looks like the pads have been cut off one side. I did a search & a bunch of reading on the forum but I really need to ask some questions on this. The reason I’m not quite sure I want to lower it from stock height is because I’m still autocrossing in the stock class.

Ok, here are my questions; 1) I’ve read this but never been able to confirm that, the Z51 springs allow the car to sit lower? If true, how much lower? 2) if I decide not to lower the car can I buy the correct height rubber pads to replace those cut off or do I have to use the lowering pads plus something with it? 3) If I decide to go ahead with the lowering of the car is there a way to lower it say less than what the lowering pads would normally give? 4) currently I’m running 17x9.5’s all around & occasionally 17x11’s all around. So I don’t want rubbing issues with these rims or if I go to a larger diameter rim. 5) Finally, what is the best method or process for lowering it? Especially the front since the rear looks to be pretty straight forward.

What ever I do I want to make sure it’s done the best that it can be done. Thanks!

Put together and set it on the ground. It’s the only way you’ll know what the height will be.

the rear is easy to adjust, but the front isn’t

so if it’s too low you may have to be creative to raise it back up without starting with an unmodified spring

I had my front spring out twice to get it down where I wanted it

Thanks you, that’s good to know it maybe a bit of trial & error to get it where I want it. It’s a bummer the only way to easily adjust front height is coil overs but maybe sometime I’ll want to go that route. Again, much appreciated insight!
