I believe it maybe time to plan the replacement of my 89’s U-Joints. What I’m not sure of is which are the best to use? I autocross & need something to hold up long term.
I found what I believe is the cold forged non zerk unit. It only shows its for the driveshaft at rear axle. Are the half shafts different? Any chance you have an item number? Thanks!
I bought those 3615X for my halfshafts, but looking at the old strap bolts it's pretty clear they're not good for re-use... so I'm looking to get new bolts and straps, but which is the correct bolt for an early 85? Is it 5/16"?
These are the ones I bought. In retrospect, I almost wish I had bought a u-joint with a grease zerk. I have a 1 mile drive on gravel before I get to a paved road. The u-joints are covered with gravel dust held on by oil. The dust seems to suck out the grease. I really wish I could grease them since they have been in 5 years. Has anyone ever taken out the zerkless u-joints and cleaned and regreased them? Dan
Like others have said the Spicer grease less are the only way to go. Remember to get the coated version any time it's going on an aluminum shaft. The half shafts are 1350 sized and the factory driveshaft is 1310.
I would use the Denny's website to find the part numbers you need but I wouldn't order from them. They have a bad reputation. I would order the same set from Summit or Rock Auto.

I've placed a few orders with Denny's Driveshafts recently and couldn't have had a better experience. Had what I needed, better prices than summit, quick shipping, and even personally called to verify there wasn't fraud as the shipping address was different than the billing. I like them.

Maybe they've gotten a little better lately. Or maybe a broken clock is right twice a day. They have a reputation for very poor customer service and have made a lot of people pretty upset. It's been documented on this forum and others over the years. But I'm glad you got quality from them. Most of the complaints I've read about them were from custom driveshafts being made and customers being screamed at or orders for custom shafts taking weeks or months longer than advertised.
