You can have your LT1 heads worked and your intake ported and add the Hot Cam and have more HP for less money. The LT4 heads and intake are better than stock LT1 stuff but not better than having them worked by a reputable machine shop/head porter. The LT4 stuff ,worked, is better still, but if you already have an LT1 and want 330+ rwhp (approx what a stock LT4 with Hot Cam has) it can be acheived with more cheaply by working what you have and adding the Hot Cam and a tune.

Hope that helps..... :seeya

do you recommend replacing the timing chain, water pump and opti spark if you are upgrading the LT1cam with the Hot cam kit.

All those parts come off to do the job so ask your self how much money you want to spend and how old are your parts to begin with. I don't find changing an opti to be all that big of a deal. After doing a few it dose not seem that hard any more. I say if the parts have lower miles reuse them or at least keep them around for spares.

Depending on how many miles you have, but yes. I did the whole top end and front end rebuild when I swapped my cam. It feels good to know everything is fresh, less worries. It's a bit of a long read but here's my old thread with pics...
