I bought a 1984 with Z51 package. The former owner installed monroe shocks non-Z51. Does anyone know the best setup for the 1984? Right now the rear bounces a lot and I'm thinking it is because it has the wrong shocks. Corvette parts places suggest Bilstein however, according to my dealer and the build sheet it did not come with Bilstein. I'm looking for a stock ride.
Bilsteins were an option, so it would be "stock" but unfortunately neither the Delco, nor the Bilstein shocks that were originally on the Z51s are available any more.
Bilstein's recommendation for replacement is B6s for the front, and B8s on the back.
There are other threads here about shocks for these cars. You'll have to look around, but they get quite involved .
