Default ZF Slip Yoke Discussion

Greetings all, has anyone ever used the Sonnax Slip Yoke p/n T2-3-13131HP? I wanted to get a modified yoke from the ZFDoc, Spicer 2-3-10831X machined by him, but I sent a couple of emails to the ZFDoc and it comes back undeliverable for some reason. I ran accross the Sonnax looking at a DriveLine shop. Anyone have any insight here? Thanks, Dude.

Below is the offending artical, OE Spicer Slip Yolk P/N 2-3-13131X, with 86k it looks and feels perfect but raises hell and vibtates the car something awfull.

Have you replaced the U-Joints?

I would imagine you can get the slip yoke itself balanced at a driveshaft shop.

You don't need ZFDoc to do the modification. Most any 'local'' can accommodate you. I've emailed him on several occasions with no responses. He ain't worth the aggravation!

This is my concern here... what exactly needs to be modified? Why cant I just use the Sonnax Slip Yoke p/n T2-3-13131HP unit? ITs available from several outlets, im trying to find out if anyonie has ever used it before.

I'm having a hard time thinking the above Yoke is the cause of a lot of vibration. What about the Bushing that it rides in in the back of the Trans. If You get one of the replacements then it would be just a matter of holding them up to each other to see what needs to be modified. If the replacement is to long, I would shorten it with my Lathe, but a hand Grinder with a cut off wheel and some clean up afterwords would work.

I tend to believe you about this, but others have sworn that this is the cause of vibration and general carrying on. I will not be convinced myself until I install a new one and drive it.

About that conversion u-joint, its only the caps on the slip yoke side that get changed correct?

The trunnion is different also I believe but dimensional charts only deal with overall dimensions, the trunnion isn't dimensioned. You should be able to compare dimensions easily using various brands.

This should be Spicer for comparisons:

According to the research ive done there is a difference in the lenght between the 1310 and the 1330 U-joints which would accomodate the new P/N slip yoke but the Spicer OE prop shaft is still the same demensions. So what gives?
