Default Building an L98

So trying to maximize hp from a 'stock" l98. Complete track car.

Looking to build an absolute indestructible bottom end in the 400chp mark. Like, invincible while giving more HP. Goal is ~10.7:1 CR w/ a .045 quench.

What crank/pistons/rods should i get?

400 chp NA?
Scat 9000 crank
Scat 6" Pro Series rods w/7/16 rod bolts.
Mahle 4032 forged PowerPak pistons
 w/1mm/1mm/2mm ring pack.

You could step up to a forged crank for a lot more money but not necessary for that power level.

You could also run a 6.125" rod using Mahle PowerPak pistons and a stock 3.48 stroke crank.

Your stock lower end has a 2 bolt main 638 block. Have it magnafluxed and use ARP main studs.

Any reason for not building a 383?

Everything I've read suggests 6.0 rods don't make a difference in performance. Any reason for picking that over a stock 5.7 rod?

Planned on splaying.

Series will charge me points for doing stroker.

One of the main reasons for choosing a 6" or a 6.125" rod (aside from rod ratio) is piston weight. The longer the rod, the lighter the piston because the piston is shorter. So your reciprocating weight is reduced which is better at high RPM. The thin ring pack is also lighter with less drag and better sealing/conformability. And the slipper skit design and the shorter pin further help reduce weight. I recommend calling Mahle and describing your application. You'll get a knowledgeable and helpful tech on the line straight away.
