Default Sun Visor Arm to Header Repair

I've been working on my recently acquired '87 Vert and the visors were poorly restored by the previous owner. They're covered in graphite vinyl but the upholsterer sewed a vinyl binding or bias tape around the edge that looked horrible. I read where some owners simply remove their visors. I did that and the first drive down my street in the afternoon convinced me to put them back on. I was able to rip the binding tape off, since the edge was double stitched, and they looked ok. Ok, let's get to the point. I tried to re-install the arms in the header and the retaining washer that sit on top of the spring wouldn't hold the visor arm up. I even bought a couple of those spring compression washers to back it up but it would just let go and pop off. So I decided to thread the end of the shaft and put a nut on it. A few pics detail what I did are attached. I couldn't find a post about this so I apologize if this has been detailed before. Not sure if the later ones were threaded but my '87 didn't have threads.

I had an M5 x 0.8 die. I beveled the end of the arm so the die would start and cut the threads. The nut is a pretty common metric fastener on the car and fit the shaft after I cut the threads. I put a little lithium on the top and bottom of the spring.

I used a C Clamp to hold the arm in place and installed the arm. Exposed threads visible.

I installed the spring and drove the old retainer back onto the shaft after I flattened the little tangs. When installing the retainer; check the arm's swinging tension. You don't want it too tight or too loose.

I put a spot of red Loctite on the threads and secured the nut making sure I didn't tighten it too much to cause the arm to bind in the tapered socket making the visor difficult to move to the side window.

All buttoned up. I don't know if someone made these visors so they are smaller than normal but they work pretty well and don't look that bad. I can live with it since I'm frugal and like to fix things myself.
