I have had this car since 1995 and just noticed a light under the rear bumper as I took the
garbage out tonight. It was burning and I have not driven the car since Saturday. I have a Dough Nash Trans [manuel]
and always leave the car parked in reverse. Have been having battery problems and guess this is the reason .
I put the car in neutral and the light went out. Any thoughts on what the problem is [switch ?] or is there a way to
turn it off ? Thanks for any info !
I would figure that light would be on the headlight circuit, but a place to start would be figure if headlight or interior.
If interior it would make sense that after putting in neutral light went off because you probably slammed door shut lights out.
Using 87 wiring diagrams. This spare tire lamp involves the headlight switch and dome lamp delay timer ( GM P/N 10098435 forum sponsor Corvette Central) which would be suspect. Circuit 156 originates at the headlight switch and is spliced into dome lamp delay timer, the left and right hand doors as well as L and R courtesy lamps and spare tire lamp. I did not follow the other side of the spare tire lamp circuit 40 but would believe it to be ground. I will double check circuit 40 to see if it involves the reverse lamp, does it go out when taken out of reverse ?
Circuit 40 does go to ground and into the antenna relay for motor direction.
