Default Cooling Fan check using OBD1

I would like to make sure my cooling fan is working properly since I re-wired it. The previous owner had the fan hooked up to the running lights.

The Service manual states that you should ground the OBD1 terminal, turn the key on but do not turn on the engine and the fan should kick on if working properly.

I've connected terminal A and B using a paper clip to read error codes before but not 100% clear on how to ground the terminal which is A.

'A' is ground.

Thanks for responding. Some YouTube posts show that connecting A and B (when no Service Engine Soon light is on) then the fans should kick on after turning the key to the on position if all is well. I believe this is the answer and will be trying this over the weekend.
