Yesterday we were in stop and go traffic with the air conditioner on. The car heated up to 210-215 degrees. When I cleared the traffic and was going 40-45 in 4th gear, All of a sudden the chimes started ringing no lights or messages.
I shifted to 5th gear and the chimes stopped.
I had to slow down a little bit later and the temperature was still up and the chimes sounded off again and stopped with a up shift. We were able to get out and run the temperature came down to 190 degrees and no issues. Other than that the temperature increased I have no idea why the chimes went off. Any and all ideas welcome.
Thank you

I’ve got the same symptoms. Also the chime doesn’t work at all when I leave the key in, or the headlights on. It’s my understanding that this is the chime controller itself going bad, and needs to be replaced. I’ll be replacing mine soon.
Beginning in 1992 there is a "Turn Signal Reminder". If the turn signal is left on for 1 mile, the chime sounds. (Yes, it is one mile, IDK if 0 MPH like in stop and go driving resets it.). Installation of LED turn signal bulbs can also confuse the CCM into thinking the turn signal is left on when it isn't, and the chime sounds after 1 mile..

I firmly believe that the heat had a reaction on my CCM. It is very unusual for the car to run that hot.
I will be taking it out this weekend and see what happens.
As far as replacing the Chime I have been told that it is a real pain to get to it.

I did replace all my lights with LED a year ago and I used a blinker relay from Super Bright.
No problems hopefully.
Thank you
