Default AC EVAP pipe broken - splice or new core

1994. See pics. Pipe from AC evaporator core broken between core and sensor. Anyone know a way to splice or do I have to do a new core? Parts store AC pipe splice kits look too big, I have about a half inch or less clearance from the sensor to pipe break.

The only other thing is you could take it to a radiator shop and see if they could fix it. I doubt they can but, I know, I would try as it would be free to show it to them. Dan

I think you're SOL and will need to roll up your sleeves, if it was in one of those 4" of straight pipe there might have been a chance but this Nah don't think so

It is possible to weld repair that, but only at a specialized shop (there is one near me that builds turbo system intercoolers). But, since you have to remove the old one anyway, it would likely be close to the same cost to just replace.

Thanks all. I disassembled and have the evaporator and accumulator coming tomorrow. Got a vacuum pump and manifold gauges from AZ loaner for when I install. I'm halfway glad I cracked that pipe, the evaporator had copious amounts of debris within it.

Is there a recommended sealant for reattaching the two halves of the evaporator housing, and the housing and blower to the firewall?

I think it is called window ribbon. Available at auto parts stores. A roll of black sealant of some sort in a box. Worked really well on my ‘89.
