I have a 93 Corvette, Long tube headers. I have two of the 3 brackets installed for the AC compressor, the ones that go to the exhaust manifold. Many hear know it will cause a vibration if they are not reinstalled after putting headers in.
Well, I was trying to figure out how 2 out of 3 could not make a difference. Well, I found out why. The 3rd one goes to the back of the Alternator and down to exhaust manifold. It wasnt there, and the bolt was tightened in the make it appear it was okay. The gap that should be there, is the thickness of the brackets where they bolt up, about a half an inch.
So, I took the bolt off, and installed thick washers, and Voila, not more vibration upon heavy acceleration.
Lesson for me is, when you buy someone elses problems, look at pics of old engines when the car was new.. You might see something that isnt correct.
